Business as Mission- II Encuentro 3E (III)

We recently saw the first part of Mats Tunehag's expositions during the 2nd Meeting of 3E.

Mats showed us an historical example on people doing great business: quakers in UK during the XVII century. They built up companies that nowadays are big ones, such us Barclays, Cadbury or Lloyds. Why? They were "spiritual and solvent". We can learn from UK quakers that serving Gob through Businesses also means to take care fo your/our employees.

Another historical example are amish people and their businesses. How do they have a great success on them? Having a strong sense of community, what means cooperation&collaboration. So, to serve God is also to serve your fellows in the community.

But, how can we shape business to serve God and the community? Through TIME, with intergenerational change.

There are some terms that we can use to show how Business is linked to Biblical concepts:

  1- Business as JUSTICE: example of the prophets in the AT against injustice.
  2- Business as TRUE RELIGION: providing dignity with jobs, James 1:27.
  3- Business as SHALOM: as Jesus prayer in Matthew 6. Through JesusChrist relationships can be restored.
  4- Business as STEWARDSHIP: how to be a good servant in stewardship.
  5- Business as SERVANT LEADERSHIP: how can we serve people? We can show&serve with the leadership.
  6- Business as HUMAN DIGNITY.
  7- Business as RECONCILIATION.
  8- Business as CREATION CARE.
  9- Business as LOVING YOUR NEIGHBOUR.
10- Business as GLORYFYING GOD.
 11- Business as GREAT COMMISSION.
12- Business as BODY of CHRIST.






To finish with these expositions, I just want to give my opinion on what i'd listened to last month.

I really enjoyed that weekend. Again, God had opened my mind on my job development and why do I have to work being constantly grateful. I really think Mats and his organisation are doing a fantastic job all over the world, showing people how to serve God in their business and jobs, even when they are not sure if its God's vision for them.
